Overview

YuMi (short for 'you and me') is a single-SKU integrated dual-arm cobot rather than a composed pair of separate arms. It was designed for collaborative small-parts assembly on human production lines: padded arms, force-limited joints, and no need for safety fencing. Its two 7-DoF arms give redundant, human-like kinematics, and the lead-through programming workflow lets an operator physically demonstrate motions. While primarily an industrial product, YuMi appears in academic settings for bimanual teleoperation and assembly-learning studies, supported by ROS-Industrial packages.

Highlights

  • Integrated single-SKU dual-arm cobot (one product, not two arms bolted to a table)
  • Two 7-DoF arms with redundant, human-like kinematics
  • Inherently safe: force-limited, padded arms, fenceless collaborative operation
  • 0.02 mm position repeatability, 0.5 kg payload per arm
  • Lead-through / hand-guiding programming for demonstration-based teaching
  • Widely used in industry; appears in academic bimanual teleop / assembly-learning research
  • Pricing is industrial (quote-based), not a research-kit price point
